ACR vs Wants Induced Romance

Ok, by now many of you know about the Dawson/Grey/Sweeny drama. For those who don't simply read through the Dawson and Sweeny's entries as a recap.

Background

It started with ACR pulling rank. Grex Greyand Jolie Dawson-without any wants-proceeded to make-out with each other and then woohoo. Whoa! Where did that come from? They have two bolts, but ranked thier spouses higher. Since it was a one time thing, I decided to go with the storytelling view that it was an attack of passion, they didn't know what had happened.

Then we move on to Ginger Grey and Tobi Sweeny. They have three bolts with each other. For some reason Tobi's attraction score is more for his wife (his total attraction score), but when ranking bolts, Ginger is higher (He has 100/100-love with both, but is BFF with Ginger). I guess the game gives bonus points for that wedding ring since Ginger's attraction score is higher for Grex as well. They are both attracted to each other more than thier spouse-both ACR attraction (not total attraction score) score and bolts, but haven't acted on it based on ACR. Instead, they farted hearts all over each other and then rolled romantic wants. This proceeded in a want induced affair.

ACR vs Wants
Now that we have the background, how do I determine which trumps what? I decided that if the sim rolls the want, then they have logically thought it out-sometimes-and REALLY want that. However, ACR can just be hormones raging.

So Grex and Jolie shared a one night stand that is not to be repeated, while Ginger and Tobi embarked on a blown out affair. We'll see where this takes us.

  1. I think that idea works. ACR can be a impulse action while rolled wants can be well thought out plans or fantasies. Just another dimension to it all

  2. -heredeoncove, thanks. The only problem now is when a sim rolls equal wants for two different sims. yikes!

  3. I look at it the same way. ACR is hormones, and just like teens, can get the adults in trouble as well. This is what prevented me from breaking Suni and AJ up sooner. He had rolled the fear of breaking up with her, but he had the want to go steady with Lilly. LOL

So in most cases my sims wants win out in the end. Unless a want comes out of no where then I will not fulfill it.

  4. -riverdale, Suni and AJ broke my heart. That's similar to one of my sims, she's rolled up two romantic wants for one sim and two romantic wants for the other sim. Or another sim who wants to propose to two different sims! Yikes, sometimes ACR and wants don't help.

  5. Well then he/she can be one conflicted Sim, but then how do you choose? Maybe you can roll for it or wait it out to see who he/she chooses

  6. -Heredoncove, I have no clue how to deal with it. I guess give them more time and have thier conversation and wants tell me. Maybe that's what conflicting wants really mean is that-"I have no clue, give me time to think about it!" However, that may not work as fulfilling one want will just cause similar wants to roll up-ie kiss sim A and kiss sim B are both wants, but allowing "kiss sim A" to occur most times will roll up more wants for sim A and not sim B, therfore sim A "winning" just because they're around. Maybe rolling for it would be easier :)

  7. That's what I do. I let the sim direct me. Normally they will have though bubbles about a certain sim. Like recently I was playing my high school and I noticed that one sim is always thinking about another sim. Eventhough he has three bolts for two other girls, this one girl seems to have stolen his heart.

Also, for sims who haven't rolled the "get married" or the "get engaged" want, but are always walking around with the wedding rings though bubble, I take that as them wating to marry the sim they are dating.

You can go so many ways with what they are thinking and I like to roll with their decisions most of the time. On the some ocassions I have rolled the die though.

  8. -Riverdale, that makes a lot of sense to follow thier thought bubbles. Are your rolled die like a ROS?
